It is not a simple task to work overseas. Not only will these people be faced with heavy work and danger but these people are faced with being away from their homes. This is a difficult burden to face for parents and children. These people may share time with others overseas and enjoy their company. The will often spend time telling jokes and doing other social activities but when they lay down at night in their bed they can not help but think of their home.
There is never a moment that they are not thinking of their family, especially their children. They are always thinking of the day that they will be able to see their children again. It may be hard for them to find a friend overseas that can relate to their situation so they keep this to themself.
They often wonder what would happen if a accident or some type of emergency happened at home while they were away. What if a member of the family became ill and needed medical care who would be there to care for them. They might not even be there to care for their spouse or child. It does not matter how much the family is missed sometimes there just is not enough time to even call the family.
One situation that may arise is when they come home and their own child does not recognize them. This will often happen in children that are very young when their parent goes overseas. The long period of time that the parent is away will contribute to this. It is because the child does not understand the situation that the parent is in.
There is not anyone that can replace a parents presence in the house. A child that was brought up with one or both of the parents overseas may have some resentment toward them. This is some of the disadvantages to working overseas and being a parent.
