Often in households where elderly people live with their kids, the life seems to be really good and busy. Elderly people whether they are parents or grand parents are always a blessing for us. They have their life long experiences to share with the youngsters in the family and to make the youngsters learn from their experiences. Not only that but elderly people keep helping and guiding their kids or often seem to be busy with cooking in the kitchen or with gardening hence contributing to the chores of the home.
But it is obvious that not all times are the same. As with young people, elderly people also fall ill with common illnesses or sometimes with terminal illnesses but as compared with youngsters, elderly people need more support, love and care at times when they are ill or even when they are quite well. It is at such times when families seem to be unable to keep up with the caring demands of their elders and as a result they decide to leave their elders in the care houses. Most children don’t leave their parents in the residential care homes because they don’t want to care them but it is their work routines and schedules that make them unable to care their elders well, hence deciding to leave them in the care centers so that their elders could get better care as compared with the homes.
Despite of having the facility of care centers, there are many households where one can find elder people being cared by their children themselves. In such households either the youngsters have adjusted their life styles and schedules to look after their elders or have gotten the services of the residential care nurses at their homes so that their parents could get best support at times when they need it most.
